Kidney Research Northwest

KRNW & NWCR Joint Research Funding Award

Anyone who regularly checks out our website will be aware of our recent collaboration with North West Cancer Research offering a unique research funding opportunity.

Kidney cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK – and one which is increasingly common. Nationally kidney cancer rates have increased by over 1/3rd in the last decade and mortality from this condition is also rising.

We invited applications from researchers in the North West area for projects seeking to uncover knowledge into kidney cancer. This single project opportunity was for a two year period and offered costs up to £150,000.

We are pleased to announce, that after careful consideration given to all the applications we received, the funding was awarded to Dr Bettina Wilm for her application entitled “Investigating Whether Chemotherapy-Induced Senescence Affects The Behaviour Of Cancer Stem Cells in Wilm’s Tumour”.

Whilst we were delighted to be able to offer this one off opportunity for funding, we would like to remind applicants that we are still of course accepting applications for funding within our normal remit and applications for this are available for download in the Research Section of our site or by emailing aedge@liverpool.ac.uk.
